I bowed to the pressure of the song, I made a songfic for CSI. Have mercy!
Title: Motions
Rating: G
Summary: Pre-GD Grissom looks back, songfic to Bewildered, Nova Nova
Oh you think you’re so clever
And you think you’re alright
Well I know the game that you’re playing
And it won’t last…
Five years ago you asked her to stay, for no other reason then to be able to see her everyday. Even if it was only in a professional capacity you couldn’t let her go, not once she had come to Vegas, not since her Three’s Company crack at the re-enactment, not since she smiled at you that first day she was in Vegas for no other reason than you calling her and asking her to come.
Cause you feed her lies
Keep her hangin’ on
And it’s just not right
Leave her alone, leave her alone,
You tell her you don’t know what to do about this stressed with an accompanying gesture of you and me. You look at the card in your hand and sigh, yet another reminder of how old you are and how unsuitable you are for the young and vivacious. You get Doc Robbins opinion and it doesn’t really surprise you, you just needed to make sure it was the right thing to do. Not that it ever wasn’t.
And she looks so bewildered
And so insecure
And she thinks that she needs you
More than you know
You get so worried about her, when you take her home after The Incident which in your mind requires it to be capitals bold and in italics to stress how close she had come to the edge. The edge of everything that you thought she needed and stood for.
Cause you feed her lies
Keep her hangin’ on
And it’s just not right
Leave her alone, leave her alone,
You remember looking at her, nearly three years ago not worrying about herself just the lab, to clean up the mess left by human error, Catherine’s error you remind yourself, it could have killed Greg and it could have killed more than that. As it was it took some of the spark from the punk rock lab tech.
And she looks so bewildered
So insecure
And she worships the ground that you walk on
I’ve tried to tell her
She thinks you’re some kind of god
Oh, I’ve told her you not, no
Everything has gone now; thanks to Ecklie everything is gone. Catherine, Nick and Warwick in a blink are moved to a different shift, you still have Sara and the newly minted CSI Level One Greg Sanders still happy, still jovial but serious when he needs to be. You have Sofia now, Ecklie sure knows how to screw people over and here he’s done a wonderful job of it. Graveyard is short CSI’s and so is Swing. Day’s, Ecklie's old stomping ground is the only shift fully equipped with the right amount of staff needed. Well now is not the time for regret or pettiness, Ecklie has enough of that for the entire lab. Now is the time for moving on, to the new shifts and the impact is going to be felt long into the future. Here there is no job security but Ecklie needs you more than you need him and you will continue to hold it over his head until one of you retires or moves on.
Cause you feed her lies
Keep her hangin’ on
And it’s just not right
Leave her alone, leave her alone.
